Radon Gas
Radon Gas Exposure
Radon Gas is a colorless and odorless radioactive gas that is commonly found in North Idaho. Radon gas is primarily a byproduct of decaying granite and gas enters your house through the foundation. Concrete slabs are gas permeable and will not protect you from Radon gas exposure. Long term radon gas exposure can increase your risk of lung cancer. The best radon mitigation solutions use vapor barriers in the crawlspace vented to the roof. There are also radon mitigation solutions for concrete slabs. More information can be found on the CDC website. Local radon testing and mitigation information can be found here.
